A fire ravaged the Kehlsteinhaus in Berchtesgaden, a former Nazi-era guesthouse referred to as the Eagle's Nest. German authorities detained a suspect after the incident. The building, associated with Hitler's Obersalzberg, was severely damaged in the blaze. The arrest was made following reports of the fire, which damaged the historic retreat.
